Information Training

Welcome to our Information Training blog which aims to develop the skills of frontline staff working within the public library setting. Enquiry work has always been an integral part of a public library service. However library staff are expected to access information from an ever-increasing number of electronic as well as traditional sources and learning effective processes and strategies to carry out competent searches is more important than ever.

An effective enquiry service not only enhances the reputation of the library with its users but also provides staff with a great deal of job satisfaction. As enquiries are often varied and often present a real challenge meaning that finding the required information for a user is extremely rewarding.

For all of these reasons investing time in developing your information skills will help you decide which resources are most useful for a particular enquiry, search sources more effectively and raise your confidence in dealing with general enquiries.
